Micromanagement refers to a management style where a supervisor closely observes and controls every detail of an employee’s work. This approach often involves excessive oversight, limited delegation, and a lack of trust in the employee’s abilities. Micromanagement can lead to decreased employee morale, reduced productivity, and increased turnover, as it stifles creativity and autonomy.

For example, if a manager insists on reviewing every email sent by their team members and dictates how every task should be executed, this would be considered micromanagement. Employees may feel constrained and undervalued, which can negatively impact their engagement and job satisfaction.
